Easter (the Bright Resurrection of Christ) is one of the oldest Christian holidays, symbolizing the victory of life over death. It is the central event of the church year.

In New York, the Easter Service will be celebrated at St. Nicholas Cathedral on April 20, 2025. On this day—an occurrence that is not very common—Catholics and most Protestants will celebrate Easter together with the Orthodox. Meanwhile, the Jewish holiday of Passover will be observed earlier, from the evening of April 12 until the night of April 19–20.
