Children's Festival

May 19, 2007: “Children’s Festival of Russian Culture.” Dr. Olga Zatsepina, President of RACH-C, introduces Children’s folk Ensembles from Washington DC, to Siberia, to Brooklyn, as they brave Spring rains to perform before hundreds of guests anxious to see authentic Russian dances and songs by costumed performers at the first Children’s Festival of Russian Culture, organized by RACH-C -The Russian American Cultural Heritage Center, in Fort Tryon Park, North Manhattan.

On May 31, 2008 twelve hundred visitors attended the children’s performances at Fort Tryon Park, Manhattan.

Each year, RACH-C invites its sponsors, volunteers, contributors, and supporters from the diplomatic, business, political and entertainment world to thank them for their help in the work of RACH-C. During this event, they enjoy outstanding entertainment by celebrated performers, delectible food and beverages, and stimulating conversation with interesting guests. They also participate in a silent auction to support a Russian child in need.

In keeping with “practice makes perfect,” RACH-C’s “Children’s Festival of Russian Culture” has been getting better year by year. This year’s Festival definitely was a great success! We would like to most sincerely thank all the volunteers, performers, vendors and attendees for making this year’s Children’s Festival so memorable.

On Sunday, June 10, 2012 the 6th RACH-C international “Children’s Festival of Russian Culture” dedicated to the birthday of Alexander Pushkin went to Broadway — the Peter Norton Symphony Space theater at 95th Street.

“Russian-American History Month” draws the attention of American audiences to the history of Russian-Americans and the role they have played in the history of the US. Organizations across New York State held events honoring and celebrating Russian-American history, culture and heritage. As a part of the History Month, RACH-C held a number of events in New York City.

NYU Skirball Performance Center

RACH-C held its 8th annual “Children’s Festival of Russian Culture” at the NYU Performing Arts Center (Skirball Hall.) As usual there were exceptionally talented Children’s Russian Folk Ensembles from as far as Canada and Virginia joining local NY metro area groups in providing a taste of centuries old Russian, Ukrainian, Georgian, Serbian, and American music and dance along with contemporary song and dance.

This years children’s festival was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory Day and was held at the Consulate General of Russia in New York City.

Over the past decade, The RACH-C Children’s Festival of Russian Culture has creatively evolved. It started in Fort Tryon Park with children’s folk ensembles on a movable stage, and tents, Russian foods, field games and more. Children’s Folk Ensembles came from the New York area, other states and Russian republics. Eventually we moved them inside to the stages of Symphony Space, NYU Skirball Center and the Consulate General of Russia. We even had it with a Manhattan Street Fair.

“RACH-C CHILDRENS FESTIVAL” 2017 COMING TO SYMPHONY SPACE WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 18, 2017
Musical traditions of the various nations and cultures that comprise the Russian Federation are preserved and nurtured in the hearts of compatriots and lovingly passed to their children who conserve and ad contemporary interpretations to them.
The Leonard Nemoy Thalia theater will be the setting for this year’s festival. The day will also incorporate a book and crafts display.
