International children's drawing competition "Road to Space", dedicated to the 55th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's flight under the auspices of KSORS

As part of the celebration of Russian-American History Month in New York in 2016, the Russian-American Cultural Center “Heritage” (RAKSI) held an international competition for the best children’s drawing dedicated to the 55th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s flight into space.

The competition was attended by 111 children aged 6 to 15.

The participants in the competition were works from the following cities in the USA: New York, Stanford, Brooklyn, Carlsbad, Detroit and from the following cities in Russia: Moscow, Samara, Zheleznodorozhny, Pervouralsk, Zhukovsky, Biysk.

The jury of the competition consisting of Yulia Artemenko, Olga Zatsepina, Marina Ivannikova, Artem Mirolevich, Olga Nenazhivina summed up the results and selected the winners in three age groups.

The winners are:

1 Age group from 6 to 9 years old:

1 place – Gabriella Spektor (9 years old) – Portrait of Gagarin – School 41, New York

2 place – Diana Gomez (8 years old) – Eye of the Cosmos – Sanderling Waldorf School, Carlsbad, California

3 place – Sofia Kamrakulova (7 years old) – Miss Universe – Children’s Art Center “Moskvorechye”, Moscow

2 Age group from 10 to 13 years old:

1 place – Konstantin Dubovsky (10 years old) – Expanses of the Universe – School 41, New York

2 place – Artem Belov (10 years old) – They were the First – Children’s Art Center “Moskvorechye”, Moscow

3 place – Masha Tarakhovskaya (13 years old) – Dense Space – Russian Cultural Center of Michigan, Detroit

3 Age group from 14 to 15 years old:

1 place – Elena Ivanova (15 years old) – Mother of the first cosmonaut A.T. Gagarin – MOUDOD art school of Zheleznodorozhny, Moscow region

2nd place – Anna Ivanchenko (14 years old) – My space – school 2054, Moscow

3rd place – Daria Anisimova (14 years old) – Yuri Gagarin – MOUDOD art school of Zheleznodorozhny, Moscow region

All works were exhibited at various venues in New York State: at the Consulate General of Russia in New York, in the UN Secretariat building, in the Capitol building in Albany, in the building of St. Nicholas Cathedral in New York, in the Bright Minds school in Manhattan, in the Sunflower school in Long Island.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS AND ALL PARTICIPANTS OF THE COMPETITION!

The winners of the international competition of the RAKSI competition, dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the flight of Yuri Gagarin, which was held under the auspices of KSORS, went to the competition of the regional Council of Russian Compatriots in South America.
