Members of the Connecticut Little Symphony will give a benefit concert of Russian Music. The concert—part of the “Music in Chelsea Series”—will feature the music of Liadov, Chopin, and Mussorgsky. The performance includes the World Premiere of a special arrangement of Pictures at an Exhibition by composer Ray Guier.

Featured on our program will be New York pianist Maxim Pakhomov—principal pianist for the Bronx Opera Company. Mr. Pakhomov, originally from Russia, studied at the Moscow State Conservatory and appeared throughout Russia with various orchestras. In addition, he has toured England, Scotland, Austria and Estonia. He has performed at Merkin Hall in NYC, and Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Auditorium, where he premiered his own arrangement of Stravinsky’s Petrushka for piano duo. Other performers include Rosemary Dellinger, bassoon; Dorothy Darlington, oboe; Janet Atherton, clarinet; Kerry Walker, flute; Ray Guier, horn, Cheryl Labrecque, cello; Rich Zurkowski, bass.
We are a group of professional musicians from Connecticut and New York, who have formed a small chamber music ensemble; truly a “Little Symphony.” Our roster includes violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon, with the understanding that musicians can be added whenever programming dictates. The group can also be reduced to smaller ensembles such as duos, trios, quartets, quintets, and octets. Small-scale symphonic works will include brass and percussion in the upcoming seasons.
Modeled after the New York Little Symphony, CLS seeks to enrich Fairfield County with stellar performances of captivating chamber music.
