Senate Resolution No. 2927 Sponsored by Senator Jackson MEMORIALIZING Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim April 2020, as Russian American History Month in the State of New York

Each year the Resolution commemorates the special occasion: this year the end of WWII as memorialized by the meeting of Soviet and American troops at the Elbe River.

WHEREAS, 2020 marks the 75th Anniversary of a most important historical moment, the end of World War II; soldiers of the allied forces of the USA and the Soviet Union met on April 25, 1945, at the Elbe River in Germany, signaling the end of the threat of Nazi dominance over the free world;
